A new MMO enters the Arena...

  • OWE Minecraft Server
    • Minecraft is a game that will make you feel like you are a child again playing legos with your friends. At first, you make a structure to help protect you against things that go Ssssss in the night, when the sun comes up work together to create amazing and imaginative things.

Build a home, grow your own food in your backyard or have a chicken farm to feed millions.

There are a million and one things that you can do in this game to have hours, no days of endless fun.  Watch out for witches that will curse you, oh and the baby zombies who will try to eat your face.  Search far off lands and find temples buried in the sand, talk to the villagers who live in the jungles maybe if you are nice to them they will trade with you. If that’s not something that peaks your interest maybe you would like to test your skills in electrical engineering, build circuits with red stone repeaters and flip the switch to light up the lanterns in your new palace at the beach.

A few OWE members have already joined in on the fun, building farms, observatories, and multilayered farms that harvest themselves with the flip of a switch.

Come join us (owe.no-ip.org) start mining and build your dream home out of diamond blocks.

  • Neverwinter
    • image
Returning to the fantasy genre in true obsessive fashion, some members of OWE have started playing the free to play mmo Neverwinter!

Combining a Dungeons and Dragons setting, an action combat system reminiscent of TERA and a user accessible dungeon creation tool; this unique MMO has the potential to be a mainstay for the guild.

Come quest with us, or maybe even dance around the Owlbear, it's bound to be a fun ride!

One caveat: the official installation file includes an unstable game manager. OWE members look to the members only forum for an alternative option.

      Adventure awaits!

  • Redesign
    • Over the next few days we'll be going through a redesign phase, so please bear with us as the colors and layout of this site may change frequently.

Please keep all appendages inside the site during metamorphosis. This is for you own safety.

      Thanks you.
      - Nemi

Edit: 98% Normality restored. Acid trips should now become less frequent.

  • Wintersday coordinated activities

    • With Wintersday upon us, more group oriented activities have emerged!

The great asuran toy master Tixx has a problem with rogue toys. He needs our help to drive them back and retake his workshop. As well, there is a toypocalyse game mode that sends waves and waves of rogue toys which need to be fended off!

If you're interested in participating in some of these events, let us know in the comments below with what dates / times you'd be available to attend.
I'm thinking we'll be able to assemble a group during the weekend before New Years.

Don't forget about the other activities too, there's a whole snow globe full of them to do! A present delivery jumping puzzle, bell ringing rythm game and pvp snowball fight all take place inside the giant snow globe where the mystic forge used to be! Just talk to any of the npcs with the flag marker over their head to join in the fun.

      Happy Holidays,
      - Nemi

  • It's Halla.. It's Hollo.. It's CANDY DAY!

    • Halloween is upon us, and with it comes Guild Wars 2's first Special Event!

For all the details, check out the official Shadow of the Mad King page.

Basically it consists of 4 acts, with a special one-time event happening on October 28th at 12pm PST (3pm Eastern, 4:30pm Newfoundland time)

So far, the activities available seem to be:
      1. Costume Brawl (check out around the mystic forge in Lion's Arch)
      2. History of the Mad King scavenger hunt (The reward for this is the Book back armor in the image above. If you need help with this, myself and the officers have already completed it, and would gladly help you find all the pieces!)
      3. Haunted Doors (randomly spawning in Queens Dale, Kessex Hills and Gendarran Fields)

More activities and events are bound to crop up as we make it through the acts, so make sure you hop online to complete them with us!

      Have a Happy Halloween~

  • WvW - Great Success?

    • It might not have gone as well as we'd hoped.. but we had a blast all the same!

Above is a picture of Arah's tower which we held for a continuous 6 hours, all the while figuring out the range on our trebuchets. We reinforced our allies while they captured the neighbouring supply camp, and gave hell to our enemies when they dared enter our range. So much so that, eventually, they came en-mass to put an end to our tyranny!

Later that weekend, we took a crack squad of savvy motivated personnel south, deep into enemy territory. There we harassed and denied a supply camp to both the green and blue enemy. They would occasionally catch on and get a couple of us, but our superior strategy of "every man for himself" dispersal pattern would leave someone alive to rez the rest after the enemy had cleared out. During our harassment, we met one of our newest members Taymian and his buddy Pingroo who joined in on the merriment!

The final evening, we started with Dreaming Bay in our control. A well defended island keep, very close to the home base of the dreaded green enemy. We put up a valiant effort, but eventually their seemingly superior numbers overwhelmed the keep. We were driven from the island, and seemed to spend the rest of the night playing catch up, trying to recapture supply camps as we were assaulted from both sides.

Overall we had a great time in World vs World, but it was glaringly obvious that our server has a problem.

A serious lack of quality leadership.

I saw maybe two (2) commanders over the course of the weekend, and they were weak leaders at best. Either they had a severe lack of communication, a poor sense of strategy, or both. Eventually the majority of players in the map would complain or straight out ignore the commander, leading to dissension amongst the ranks. Sadly this lead to the other servers trouncing us with well laid sabotage and deception. It's unfortunate in many ways that the only requirements for gaining a commander's rank is a one time outlay of one hundred (100) gold. This both denies good leaders without a large guild or some other monetary support from getting the rank, and allows ANYONE with deep pockets to easily acquire one.

I think together we would be able to run World vs World much more effectively than the current commanders are capable of. So, I have decided to make it my objective to acquire the funds for a commander rank for our guild. It's not going to be easy, nor will it be quick, but I think it would be a worth while investment given our server's current state.

      Together, we should stand.

  • WvW Weekend Event

    • When: September 28th - 30th
      Where: Fort Aspenwood Borderlands

Help us defend our server's borders in World vs World this weekend, and carve a part of the map for the guild! Supply Camps and Towers will be ours, and maybe even a Keep! The OWE banner will fly, and we'll be completing the WvW part of our Monthly Achievement while we're at it.

      - Run in our coordinated attacks to deny the enemy valuable supplies
      - Storm enemy strongholds to claim for the guild!
      - Protect our caravans as they deliver supplies, or hunt down and destroy the enemy's caravans!

Don't want to go face to face with the enemy? There are lots of things you can do!

      - Help defend by manning Trebuchets, Catapults, Arrow Carts and Ballistas atop our walls!
      - Find new skill challenges and points of interest throughout the map
      - Try your hand at the WvW jumping puzzle

There is a lot of fun to be had, and it's even more fun when you share it with friends.

Edit: This video helps illustrate some of the concepts involved with World vs World http://youtu.be/Bg9dLdybZp0

Hope to see you on the battleground this weekend,
      -Nemi

  • Guild Wars 2: Account Security
    • This bridge doesn't seem very secure..It's already started, and it's becoming wide spread. Two of our members have already been hacked, and it seems as though the fault doesn't lie with Arenanet. The hackers are dragging email address and password pairs from other hacked sources (eg World of Warcraft) and using the credentials to hijack Guild Wars 2 accounts!

Arenanet has addressed the situation, and have made some suggestions on how to keep your account safe:

      1. Enable email authentication

With email authentication, any major changes to your account will have to be verified through your email account. If you're having trouble getting the authentication email, make sure you check you junk mail and add noreply@guildwars2.com to your safe list. If all else fails, contact support and they'll set you up.

      2. Create a unique Strong Password, that's not used anywhere else.

This is the most important point. With a strong password that's not used anywhere else, the hackers wont be able to guess your password, and the password wont be in any of their lists. It's a pain, but important. DO THIS.

If you have been hacked, there is a process you can go through to get your account back. It starts on the Guild Wars 2 site, and I'm told will bring you to the NCSoft support section. NCSoft is the parent company of Aenanet, so don't be alarmed by the mention of NCSoft. Arenanet is also keeping a state of the game wiki page updated every day with their progress resolving hacked account tickets, as well as other issues they're working on.

If you do end up getting hacked, please inform myself or one of the officers so we can keep the hackers out of our Guild Bank!

      Keep yourself protected.
